FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS |
WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE YOUR SERVICES? Fist of all, let me stress out that I am not a "low-cost" translation specialist. There are hudreds of such translators; I am not like them. If price is all that matters, you have not reached the right place. The reasons you should choose me are (i) excellent price-to-performance ratio, (ii) customer-focused approach, (iii) I provide total support, (iv) I honestly do not believe that quantity should be on the first place, and (v) I never promise what I cannot really do. I have been in the translation business since 1995 providing translation and interpretation services to numerous customers, from large global companies to small and medium enterprises. As a freelancer, I am able to offer an excellent time flexibility including weekend and overnight work as well as friendly and focused approach. Additional services include activities of a semantic (bilingual) editor, graphic editor, layout editor, proofreader, stylistic editor, and programmer. I am providing a CREATIVE SERVICE. The keystones of my services include quality, reliability, and accuracy.
Most importantly, computer aided translation (or translation memory technology) is NOT a machine translation. CAT tools allow translator using previously translated sentences and terms saved in the translation memory in new projects. They are particularly suitable for software localization, translations of technical documentation, documentation for software and user manuals for all types of products. CAT tools also greatly simplify processing files created in specialized DTP software, such as FrameMaker, QuarkXPress, InDesign, without any intermediate processing steps (via Microsoft Word) that are common for non-CAT translation projects. Click here for detailed information.
I usually charge my translations on the per-source-word basis. The advantage of this approach is that you know the final price of translation before I actually start working on your project - no more bad suprises and problems. What I confirm is what you will actually pay. If you choose non-CAT translation (without translation memory), you will get a better unit price, however, any repeating or similar text will not be taken into consideration. If your files are big or you update your manuals frequently, the unit price is higher, but you will get huge discounts on text already stored in the translation memory. Depending on the source text and content of the translation memory, savings may reach 20% up to 60%. WILL YOU TRANSLATE FILES CREATED IN DTP SOFTWARE LIKE INDESIGN, FRAMEMAKER, QUARKXPRESS, ETC.? Yes, of course. I work with the common DTP formats. CAT tools allow me working with these formats directly without any intermediate steps, such as converting texts into Ms Word files. What you give me is what you get - just in another language; prepared for printing and distribution to your customers.
You do not have to be worried out this any more. Just send me your file and I will decide whether CAT or non-CAT translation is good for you and I will quote the final price you would pay before I actually start working on your project. No more surprises - you know all information before placing order with me.
Quality is always on the first place - I do not prefer quantity to quality. I never give false promises. Quality of my work has been verified by numerous major customers (see references). If you require additional guarantee, you may ask for a translation preview (password-protected PDF) to check the quality before you accept the work and make your payment. I HAVE A COMPLEX TEXT WITH MANY PICTURES, DIAGRAMS, ETC. WILL YOU KEEP THE ORIGINAL FORMAT? Yes, of course. The format of resulting translation strictly follows the original format and, in many cases, the final translation outperforms the original text in terms of visual appearance. If diagrams, pictures, or other objects do not allow a direct editing, they are transferred into a graphic software (like CoreDRAW or PhotoShop) and edited there (including retouching and other processing).
I am online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During usual office hours (08:00 AM – 08:00 PM) I check my mailboxes every 10 minutes.
A formal purchase order is required for every translation. I do not prefer any specific format; e-mail order will be sufficient. You may pay by a bank transfer, MoneyBookers transfer, or PayPal. Please contact me to get more detailed information.
I am fully available both for corporate and agency clientele.
